First Email

Hey everybody!!!

Well I'm chilling down in Mexico at the CCM and it's pretty cool and is definitely super fun! I'm sorry it took me so long to write and email, they didn't let us have a p-day last week and I didn't have the opportunity to write on the plane on account of conversations and long games of tic-tac-toe with some amazing missionaries, and in one case a very nice Latina that thought I could tour mexico.πŸ˜‚

I had the opportunity to go to the Temple today and my P-day is pretty short so I'm not sure how much I will be able to write. The temple was super awesome, even though I couldn't get many of the words because it was in Spanish. Mexico city temple is actually the biggest outside of the states, and one of 5 where Moroni is holding the plates!

GENERAL CONFERENCE
Not going to lie it was a struggle to stay awakeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I think me and Elder Miles were the only ones not to fall asleep.πŸ˜‚ Our brains get fried with tying to cram as much Spanish as possible in there. It was super cool to watch with all the missionaries! Quick story.... the first day of conference imma be honest, I was in a rough mood. I think that deterred the spirit and therefore I didn't really feel it that day. However at night and throughout Sunday I was just praying in my heart to feel the spirit, to have that comfort. I just needed that. Well the lord blessed me!! I got to feel the spirit once just slightly and that was enough for me! But when President Nelson announced 18 new temples with 4 here in mexico city, then during the song!... I was crying the spirit was there. I have a STRONG testimony that our Heavenly Father is HASTENING HIS WORK!!

TRAVEL
The trip was awesome and Mexico City is huge!! There are 22 million people here, and if you want to know how much that is, look up the population of the state of Utah. [3 million] As we looked out of the plane we could see three mountains (2 hills 1 real mountain) poking out and city as far as you can see! The ride to the city was crazy! There is graffiti and barbwire everywhere and its super colorful. We also saw 4 bad buildings with the word sex in huge bold letters. NO BUENO. I also saw some really weird people, not going to write about them because it's already too much.

EVERYTHING ELSE I CAN THINK OF...
Everybody I've heard said the food was bad or gives you the runs... I've had no bad luck with that so that's good! (I'll show some pictures of that). The drinks are a struggle, however, it's basically just flavored water.
It is soooo loud here, everyday they have parties. Some are louder than others, but they are all loud so it can be a struggle to get to sleep. Another loud thing is the parrots, there is a bunch of green parrots that are so so loud all the time.

I forgot to introduce my district....
Elder May and Elder Johnson-Provo mission
Elder Me, Elder Jacobsen and Elder Miles- Lubbock Texas
Elder Wharton and Elder McCranney-somewhere in Texas (I think Houston)
and Hermanas Trent, Lavaka, and Elegante-2 to Cali and one to Houston
We are all super happy to be here and we learn really well together! Super fun great district.

Oh also... I'm a Casa Mama! My companero was called to DL and therefore I am in charge of my house as a house leader, nicknamed casa mama or casa esposa or mama oso.... It's cool because I'm in charge of devo's at night! The spirit there is so strong! its been amazing.

Other pretty bomb missionaries include Elder Wood, Elder Gunderson (aka elder fannypack), Hermana Guillan, Elder Anderson (went home yesterday due to medical, will be back out in a month), Elder Bybee, Elder Jenkins, and Elder Garragoza Carranza (hopefully I spelled it rightπŸ˜‚). I know those names mean nothing to you but oh well.

I know that isn't everything but there isn't much time... so here's some pictures

Con amor,
Elder Hansen

PS. Oh hey if you can... I forgot to tell you guys to do something. My challenge is to do missionary work, especially on the other side of the veil.
